Outdoor Learning Activities in Oxford: Sailing for Schools & Colleges
Introduction
Outdoor learning activities in Oxford give pupils and students the chance to develop new skills, teamwork and confidence in an inspiring outdoor environment. Our sailing and watersports sessions turn classroom learning into hands-on experience, helping young people grow both personally and academically.
Building skills through outdoor learning
We work in partnership with schools and colleges to design engaging and educational sessions that fit your timetable and objectives. Options include curriculum enrichment, PE alternatives and end-of-term activity days, with each programme tailored to the needs of your group.
Whether students are taking their first steps on the water or building on existing skills, our instructors create a supportive setting that encourages participation and teamwork. The focus is always on personal growth, communication and fun.
Safe, structured and rewarding sessions
Every instructor holds full RYA qualifications and DBS checks. All sessions include safety cover and use of maintained equipment, ensuring complete peace of mind for teachers and parents.
Schools can choose between one-off sessions or longer outdoor learning programmes. Many groups choose to work towards RYA awards, giving students a clear sense of progress and recognition for their effort.
Activities for Key Stages 2–5
Our programmes are designed for pupils from Key Stages 2 to 5, with a mix of practical learning and group challenges. Activities can include:
- Sailing sessions to build balance, coordination and decision-making
- Watersports and teamwork exercises that develop communication skills
- Challenges focused on leadership and group problem-solving
- Environmental awareness and safety lessons linked to classroom subjects
Through these experiences, students learn the value of perseverance, respect and cooperation, lessons that carry beyond the water and into everyday school life.

Each booking begins with a planning discussion to ensure every aspect meets your school’s needs. Group size, ability level and learning goals are all considered, allowing us to build the right mix of challenge and enjoyment.
Teachers and assistants are welcome to join in or observe, and our instructors are happy to discuss how activities can link with specific curriculum topics or wider educational aims.
