Powerboating is an essential skill for safety cover, instructor support and confident handling in powered craft. Whether you’re new to driving a RIB or want to support sailing and windsurfing activities, our adult powerboating courses offer structured, RYA-certified training on calm inland water. These courses are ideal for volunteers, club members or anyone seeking practical driving experience with safety in mind.

Powerboat Level 2
This is the most popular powerboating qualification for beginners and club volunteers. You’ll learn how to prepare and handle a boat at planing speed, perform manoeuvres, and approach and secure to pontoons and moorings. The course covers all core skills, including launching and recovery, basic navigation and safety.

Safety Boat Course
This course trains you to support racing fleets, rescue sailors in capsized dinghies and provide cover during training sessions. It includes towing techniques, dealing with entrapments, and rescuing inverted craft. Designed for those who already hold Powerboat Level 2 and regularly operate in a support role.
